WHAT MAKES CAMDEN CENTER DIFFERENT

Camden Center is an internationally recognized center of excellence for the treatment of mental health and addictive disorders. Established and operated by physicians, Camden Center is also one of the only mental health and addiction treatment centers in the United States that operates as a medical organization. This unique structure permits Camden Center to provide truly comprehensive care, with psychological, somatic, and medical therapies integrated into a personalized and complete treatment plan for each patient.

Patients at Camden Center have the benefit of receiving the highest quality mental health and medical care from clinicians across a broad range of specialties working collaboratively to address the psychological, biological, developmental, nutritional, and functional elements of each patient’s unique history.

Camden Center has the ability to offer our patients complete treatment for mental health and addictive disorders with specialists including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, natural medicine doctors, psychologists, family therapists, nutritionists, massage therapists, acupuncturists, occupational therapists, executive coaches, and fitness experts serving as integral members of the treatment team.

Every patient is provided with a unique team of expert clinicians matched to their specific needs with no two patients receiving the same plan. There are no predefined tracks or set schedules and each patient receives completely personalized treatment based upon a comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment and ongoing evaluation of progress using research-validated outcome measures. It is our belief that this is the only model of care that offers individuals with mental health and addictive disorders truly comprehensive treatment and creates the greatest opportunity to fully heal.

Camden Center places the highest priority on providing the best possible clinical care to each patient and is operated based on the standards of quality, compassion, and professionalism characteristic of a physician-operated medical organization.

the camden model

Treatment at Camden Center is based upon a unique model of care designed to organize and integrate the various psychotherapeutic, medical, and somatic therapies that have been proven effective for mental health and addictive disorders into a system that matches therapies to patients based upon which are likely to be most effective at each point in recovery.

To accomplish this, Camden Center uses a sophisticated diagnostic framework that formulates an origin and causal pathway for each patient’s diagnosis. This focus on determining the cause of the current diagnosis is the foundation of the Camden Model of care and is what drives our unique approach to treatment.

Unlike physical injuries in which the cause does not usually determine the treatment, different individuals with the same mental health or addictive disorder often require very different combinations of treatments to recover depending on how the condition developed. If the cause of a mental health condition is not determined and healed, resolution of the current episode is inevitably followed by future episodes. The purpose of the Camden Model is to both diagnose and treat the current issue and also to understand and heal its origin.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Founded on the principles of compassionate care, clinical excellence, and respect for our patients and their families, Camden Center provides world-class treatment in a caring, patient-centered environment. With a diverse team of nationally recognized clinicians, Camden Center is a highly specialized practice with expertise in the treatment of the following conditions:

Depressive disorders are more than just feeling sad. They cause intense feelings of hopelessness and apathy that interfere with relationships, pleasure in activities, and overall quality of life. Depressive disorders include major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, substance/medication-induced depressive disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Any of these can lead to constant fatigue, poor concentration, lost interest in hobbies and activities, sleep disturbances, changes in appetite, and thoughts of death or suicide. The exact cause of depression is unknown, but it may develop from changes in the brain, lifestyle factors, or genetics. Without treatment, symptoms of depression can last for years and continue to worsen.

Addictive disorders such as substance abuse, substance dependence, and chemical dependence are chronic disorders that develop over time. While they can be hard to stop on their own, addictive disorders are treatable and it’s possible to experience long-term recovery. Addictive disorders can develop as a result of brain chemistry, genetics, environmental factors, and stress. They can cause significant changes in a person’s life, impacting relationships, employment, and the ability to enjoy usual activities. People who attempt to stop using on their own often experience uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal that can lead them to feel even more hopeless about ending their addiction. In the right type of treatment program and with the right support, recovery from addiction is possible.

This approach results in patients participating only in the therapies that are truly benefiting them and ensures the most efficient use of the resources available for treatment.
