Trauma is an emotional and physical response to a traumatic event, such as a terrible accident, personal assault, or childhood abuse, that can develop into Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Symptoms of trauma and PTSD are often debilitating, and can include flashbacks and nightmares, feeling emotionally numb, being easily startled, and trouble eating, sleeping, or focusing.

Without the right treatment, trauma symptoms can worsen and negatively impact daily life. They can even lead to a variety of other mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
